Coastal County Health

Occupational Therapy for development, rehabilitation, modification, collaboration, prevention, and advocacy

We are a community-based occupational therapy practice serving both adults and children. Located in Southern New Brunswick, we offer services throughout the province. Our services are available in the community, in clients' homes, by phone, or virtually.

Who are we…

Occupational Therapy with Coastal County Health

Occupational Therapists help develop solutions to challenges that interfere with a person’s ability to achieve the things that are important to them. An β€œoccupation” could be any activity, hobby, sport or job. Coastal County Health examines challenges holistically and helps develop a roadmap to meet our client’s goals.

Occupational therapy is the practice of doing. We focus on the way you think, feel, and move. All services are centered around developing collaborative, client identified, and functional goals. We focus on rehabilitation, prevention, and environmental factors while examining the areas of self-care, productivity and leisure.

Your Goal, Our Occupation

Coastal County Health integrates principles of kinesiology into our occupational therapy practice when appropriate. Kinesiology, the scientific study of human movement, informs our approach by applying exercise and movement science to promote health, prevent and rehabilitate injuries, and enhance human performance across all aspects of life.

If a clinician would like to send us referral, they can send it by email to: info@coastalcountyhealth.com

  • We do not diagnose BUT you also don’t need one. If we are concerned about something, we will let you know you should talk to a doctor. We can write a letter to your doctor or a psychologist to share our clinical recommendations.

Without a diagnosis, we can do a detailed functional assessment and make recommendations. We often write accommodation letters or reports detailing ways to support your needs.

  • Currently we use an app called Jane to book.

We want to make sure we gather all of the important information before your session.

  • Our office is your community! We see all our clients in their environments.

We see clients in their homes, workplaces, in nature, and occasionally in a gym environment.

  • We can go wherever you need us! We’ve done sessions in schools, gyms, offices, play grounds, and client homes.

In School Districts, we can observe in the classroom and make recommendations. This would need to be discussed with the principal or resource teacher at your child’s school.

  • Although, we do complete most of our work within Southern NB, we are open to travel to other communities.

We often do this for long-term contracts!

  • Occupational therapists focus on how mental health conditions impact daily living and use activity-based interventions to improve functional abilities. We differ from counsellors!
